Program Requirements

The Master's degree offered under Plan A is defined as a minimum of 30 credits, eight of which must be completed with origiinal thesis research.  Our MS Plan A program takes, on average, 2.5 years to complete.

New Fall 2022: Master's degree offered under Plan C is defined as a minimum of 30 credits of coursework.

Required (Core) Coursework (Plan A & Plan C):

  • PSL 7010 Basic Integrative Physiology Lecture I
  • PSL 7030 Basic Integrative Physiology Lecture II
  • PSL 6300 Biotechnology: Techniques and Applications
  • PSL 7890 Physiology Seminar (1 credit/semester; F & W) (Attendance is mandatory for all graduate students!)

Advanced Courses:

Plan A:  2 Advanced level physiology courses for a minimum of 4 credits
Plan C:  4 Advanced level physiology courses for a minimum of 8 credits.

Minor Courses (Plan A & C):

4 credits of multidisciplinary courses other than Physiology

Minimum didactic credits required:

Plan A: 22
Plan C: 30

Thesis/Dissertation Research & Direction (Plan A only): 8 credits PSL 8999

Electives: 

Plan A: to bring total didactic credits to 22
Plan C: to bring total didactic credtis to 30
