Narrative Bio

Dr. Lawson is Professor Emeritus of Physiology. His undergraduate and graduate training was completed at Virginia Tech and Cornell University. He began his association with the school as a Research Associate in Physiology in 1971. He joined the faculty in 1973 as Assistant Professor and progressed through the academic ranks to Professor. His research interests for most of his career centered on reproductive endocrinology specifically investigating the neuroendocrine regulation of prolactin, but in 1999 these interests shifted to the study of stress, cardiovascular stress responses and methods to reduce stress. His teaching interests focus on endocrine, gastrointestinal, renal and acid base physiology.
