Ph.D in Physiology

Concentration in Reproductive Science

Dissertation research is performed in basic science laboratories located at the C.S. Mott Center for Human Growth and Development under the mentorship of Ob/Gyn graduate teaching faculty.

This integrated Ph.D. program, which incorporates the teaching, research, and physical resources of two departments —Physiology and Obstetrics & Gynecology—offers interdisciplinary doctoral training in Reproductive Sciences, with the degree earned through the Department of Physiology.

The program's integration into the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology allows students the unique opportunity to obtain a Ph.D degree in a clinical environment. This close association between basic science and clinical medicine provides students with a deeper understanding of translational research opportunities aimed at ultimately benefiting reproductive medicine and health.

The curriculum represents an academic focus directed toward graduate education and research training in reproduction and development, including genomics, proteomics, molecular biology and bioinformatics.
